Hidden Self-Isolation Beauty Tricks That Every Woman Should Know! Part 1: BROWS

Hi I’m Shadai from ARDOUR Brows & Lashes. Today I’m going to talk to you about some tips on how to maintain your brows when you can’t come into the salon if you’re somebody who regularly visits a brow artist to get a brow sculpt and tint and you’re happy with the shape of your brows, my best advice is to tweeze your brows regularly.

If you tweeze your brows as soon as the hairs pop up it’s easier to maintain the shape rather than waiting 4 + weeks until they need a full reshape. That’s when mistakes can happen and we all know that once you’ve taken off too much it can take several months to grow your brows back. If you are someone who tints your brows regularly I highly recommend using a tinted brow gel. These are fantastic at evening out the colour of your brows and much less risky than attempting an at home brow tint. If you do however choose to tint your brows at home using a kit from say the pharmacy, just bare in mind that you won’t get the same result as you get in salon as we always customise the colour to the client and the ones available for retail come in usually around 3 shades so there’s not as much variety.

For those who get henna and lamination services these treatments last a little bit longer for henna colour this can last 6-8 weeks and for lamination the effect can last up to 10 weeks whilst lamination is really low maintenance its not no maintenance you do need to brush your hair’s up straight out of the shower in the morning to maintain the shape you want during the day and in the evening I recommend using an oil over the brows to nourish and hydrate the hair.

If you’re doing a little brow rehab, growing out those brows now is the perfect time to try a brow serum. We stock the Poni brow and lash growth serum. It contains vitamin A, biotin and peptides which stimulate hair growth as well as strengthening the hair you do have. The results do take 6-8 weeks to show but stick with it, it definitely works! The key with this is consistency, applying it every day twice a day if you can, will kick start the growth and you’ll get fuller stronger brows.

Now I’m going to talk to you about products to style the brows I know a lot of people are scared of trying new brow products maybe you got recommended a great brow crayon at a makeup counter and you’ve been buying the same product ever since, but let me tell you that brow products have come a long way in the last few years and there’s such a broad range of products there is something for absolutely everyone.

I’m going to go through some of our products and simplify this for you the first product I’m going to talk to you about is brow powder you can get a really soft filled in brow with this it’s super easy to use but it is also a staple in make-up artist kits because you can get a broad range of colours and you can also build up the colour to get a really strong defined brow.

The brow powder we stock in salon is the Garbo and Kelly brow duo so you get a light and deep shade this is perfect for using the lightest shade at the start of the Brow where we typically have more hair and using a deeper shade through the arch and tail of the brow to really create some definition this is also great for someone who changes up their hair colour quite a bit you can use the lighter shade if you’re a little bit lighter in summer and the deeper shade in winter or even if you’ve got freshly tinted brows you can use the deeper shade and as your brow tint starts to fade you can use the lighter shade or you can mix them together to really customise your colour.

The next product ‘I’m going to talk about is brow pencils this is probably the most commonly used product traditionally brow pencils came in a sharpenable crayon form they didn’t create too much definition it was probably a more soft filled in look but now we have a lot more variety with pencils most companies do a retractable version no sharpening required and you can get more of a variety of shapes with the pencil. Within the Garbo and Kelly range we have 2 different pencils. We have the precision brow pencil this is my absolute fave, you can create really hair-like strokes giving that feathered, textured brow. You can also get a lot of definition through the tail of the brow, so you can get quite a groomed defined brow this one is really pigmented and great quality. Within the Garbo and Kelly range we also have Brows on point which is a wider pencil with a teardrop shaped applicator this one really glides on and is perfect for a beginner, super easy to use.

The other pencil we carry is the Poni cosmetics brow magic this one is a micro pencil again like the Precision pencil but has a softer formula it’s also an adjustable colour I would recommend this for people with light to medium brown brows and it contains biotin so it really supports hair growth and strength next up is brow gel we have both the clear and tinted versions from Garbo and Kelly the clear is super popular in salon it gives you a nice stronghold but it doesn’t set straight away so you’ve got a little bit of time to play with it, this is perfect for taming those unruly hairs or just getting a really fluffy appearance for your brows my Holy Grail is the tinted brow gel this one has all the benefits of the clear brow gel but with the tint you can even out the colour of your brows and cover up those pesky grays.

Lastly I’m going to talk about brow pomade, so this one is creme formula you apply it with an angled brush, the firmer the bristles the better, this one creates more of a bold, defined brow and it’s definitely for someone who is confident with the application of brow products you need a little more skill with this one it’s definitely less forgiving so if you make a mistake with this one you definitely want a cotton tip and some micellar water handy just to clean that up this will give you those full bold brows that you love.
