Remember how your mother always told you to drink milk so you would develop healthy teeth and bones? And to avoid sugar and deep-fried foods if you wanted your teen acne to disappear?
The connection between diet and a healthy body has long been proven, so it comes as no surprise that what you eat can have an impact on brow condition and lash growth.
So what does the ‘Better Brows and Lashes’ diet consist of? In this blog we’ll go over the foods that can give you show-stopping results, as well as the ones you need to avoid.
Salmon is one of the ultimate health foods. It strengthens your bones, improves heart function, makes your brain work better and, yes, can result in healthy brows and longer and thicker lashes. It is rich in Omega 3, which nourishes hair follicles and helps prevent hair loss. Other beneficial vitamins and minerals include protein, Vitamin B, and Vitamin D.
Eggs are full of the proteins needed to strengthen hair follicles and enhance growth. They also contain iron and biotin (which can make your lashes grow faster and thicker), and Vitamin H, helps prevent hair loss, but be careful to not overindulge: eating too many eggs can inhibit biotin absorption. In addition, raw egg whites contain Avidin, which interferes with Vitamin H absorption.
Zinc deficiency can contribute to hair loss, even on your eyelashes. Oysters can combat any deficiency and, thanks to its high B12 content, make your lashes healthier and stronger. If you’re not a fan, lobster and crab also have significant zinc levels.
Like salmon, nuts like almonds and cashews contain high levels of Omega 3. Other nutrients include Vitamin E, biotin, and L-arginine, which improves blood flow to your hair follicles. Eating nuts every day will result in longer and stronger lashes and more luxurious brow hair.
Legumes like lentils and soybeans are high in iron, which is essential to brow and lash growth. They are also full of amino acids, which can prevent hair loss by contributing to keratin and collagen formation. Black beans in particular are recommended for quicker lash growth because they contain folic acid, which is an essential part of hair loss treatments.
Avocados have a high concentration of essential fatty acids, which encourage collagen production. Other valuable nutrients include Vitamin B, which is important for hair growth, and Vitamin E, which repairs any damage.
The nutrients found in spinach, which include Vitamin A, Vitamin C, iron, and folic acid, keep your brows and lashes hydrated and prevent breakage. The folic acid is especially beneficial, because it keeps your lids healthy and encourages follicle growth.
