Hidden Self-Isolation Beauty Tricks That Every Woman Should Know! Part 3: SKIN
Today I’m going to be talking to you about skin. I’m sure we all have all heard the saying ‘glowing skin starts from within’ and this is absolutely true! I know a lot of us are feeling quite stressed at the moment some of us are working from home. We have kind of lost that routine, we are not eating amazingly well or going to bed at the right time. Gut health is super important for the skin having prebiotics and probiotics in our diet and eating those wholefoods.
Another important element in our diet is supplements. EFA’S are essential for our skin health. We get EFA’S from nuts and seeds and of course fish, so supplementing EFA’S into your diet can really improve inflammatory conditions such as acne and rosacea as well as dehydration. Other things to consider with your lifestyle are exercise, meditation, cutting down screen time and of course self-care.
And this wouldn’t be a skin video without discussing skincare. It’s really important to have a regular skincare routine. In the morning your skincare routine should include a cleanse, an antioxidant serum, moisturiser and always SPF.
An antioxidant such as Vitamin B and Vitamin C really support the skin and prevent further sun damage occurring so this is super important to apply during the day time. In the evening this is where the heavy lifting is done, this is where you can use richer creams to really nourish the skin and also use a vitamin A if appropriate. Vitamin A is the only proven ingredient that really improves the appearance of our skin as we age and an important factor when choosing skin care is to choose cosmeceutical products. Something you can only get in a clinic or a salon.
These products have much higher grade quality ingredients in them then something that you would receive at a department store or even a pharmacy. The other great thing about using cosmeceutical skincare is being able to visit an expert you can really talk to you about your skin concerns and prescribe a proper skincare routine for you. As a part of your skin care routine the SPF you choose is really important.
We need to be using at least an SPF 30 and you have a choice from a physical or chemical sunscreen sometimes you can get one that combines the two. So a physical Sunscreen creates a barrier between you and the sun protecting your skin these are more natural approach to sunscreen and personally my favourite you also have chemical sunscreen which is usually your SPF 50 + these are really lightweight on the skin a lot of people prefer wearing them if they are makeup wearers the last step of your routine maybe make-up and here I would suggest using a mineral makeup range we often don’t know what we’re putting on our skin and mineral makeup ranges really focus on skin care benefits and natural products as opposed to chemicals that just look good in person but aren’t actually good for your skin.
So always take care to do research on what you’re using and always get some expert advice. I hope these tips are helpful and enjoy the rest of your day!
