How To Get Fabulous Lashes And Makeup During The Lockdown
For most of us, our regular beauty routines have been affected by the lockdown. With salons closed everywhere, how can you keep your lashes looking lush and healthy and your makeup on point whether you’re video conferencing with a major client or giving yourself a beauty boost that makes everything seem brighter?
While the lockdown has changed the way we carry out our beauty routines, you can still achieve head-turning results, at home. In this blog, we’ll share some tips for keeping your lashes and makeup looking flawless until you can meet with your favourite stylist again.
Tips for Luscious Lashes
A high-quality volumnising mascara will make your lashes look fuller and brighten your eyes, even if your lashes are naturally shorter.
Use an eyelash curler to gently prep your lashes by giving them some lift and definition.
Pick up the mascara and close your eye.
Instead of simply coating your lashes with the mascara, carefully press the wand against their roots and blink as you move the brush to the tips.
The lash movement will cause them to pick up more product, enabling a more even coating. Sure, it’s a little messier, but your lashes will look so full and thick that the extra cleanup time is worth it.
Marvelous Makeup Tips
Applying makeup is pretty easy, but a few pro-quality tips can have a positive difference on the outcome.
Start by priming your skin with a moisturiser that matches your skin type.
Use concealer to cover any undereye circles. Apply it in small stripes and lightly blend with your finger for a natural-looking result.
Apply foundation formulated for your skin type. Using a foundation stick or sponge, apply wide lines down your cheekbones, above your brows, and the sides of your nose, and then blend.
Use concealer to cover any blemishes that may still be visible.
Apply your favourite blush to the apples of your cheeks and carefully blend up towards your temples.
For brighter eyes, apply a shimmery and sheer eye shadow from your lash lines to your brows and dot the colour onto the inner corners of your eyes. Then apply a darker shade to your creases and smudge it lightly over your lids.
For a more intense look, use an eyeliner pencil to rim your upper lash lines and smudge it gently upward before applying eyeshadow.
Do your lashes. (See our tips in the previous section!)
Touch up your brows by plucking stray hairs and lightly filling in any gaps with a highly-pigmented brow pencil.
Apply lipstick. If you’re opting for a natural look, go for a nude or lightly-coloured gloss. For more drama, use a bolder lipstick and add gloss for extra shine.
